Andrew Ebben (BSc Hons Cert Ed, Chart FCIPD, CMIOSH, FCIMSPA)
Andrew Ebben is an Honours Graduate of the University of Loughborough, a qualified teacher and is a Fellow of both the Institute of Sports and Recreation Management and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner.
He has undertaken accident investigations for HM Coroners, the HSE, local authorities, insurance companies and the judiciary both in the UK and abroad to prepare expert reports in industrial relations, criminal and civil cases. He regularly completes safety inspections and audits for organisations operating indoor and outdoor sport, leisure and educational facilities.
In addition, he was responsible for the management of the City’s Swimming Development Programme. Following his recruitment to RLSS UK in 1989, he developed a broad based health and safety, supervision, rescue and first aid training programme for pool lifeguards incorporating what has developed into the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
Subsequently he has written three of what have become industry standard texts on these subjects, has completed a health, safety and rescue training manual for beach lifeguards as part of the mirror programme to the pool lifeguard programme. More recently he has developed a paediatric first aid programme to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage criteria from DCSF and Ofsted and disability access evaluation programme for sports and leisure facilities. He is an active tutor running a range of health and safety and risk management training courses, both bespoke and for Awarding Bodies such as NEBOSH and CIEH.
Leigh Simmonds (BA Hons DipNEBOSH CMIOSH MIIRSM MCIMSPA)
Leigh is the Managing Director of Quality Leisure Management Ltd. He is a leisure management graduate and has been a full member of CIMSPA since 1999, having worked across various roles in the leisure industry. Leigh has a broad range of expertise and experience, including NEBOSH and environmental health qualifications and accreditation to IOSH and IIRSM professional bodies as well as being a registered occupational safety and health consultant.
Leigh is a Chair for the IPD peer review interview process for IOSH, part of the assessment for Chartered Membership, author for Croner loose-leaf publication - Essential Facts: Premises Health and Safety and has undertaken and or been involved in the investigation of accidents for the HSE, local authorities and insurance companies in the UK and to prepare expert reports in criminal and civil cases.
