CIEH Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness
Please note: this qualification will be withdrawn on 28 April 2017.
More information can be found on the Voluntary Surrender of Recognition page.
This qualification provides employees with essential knowledge about fire safety in the workplace including how to prevent fires from starting and what action to take when the fire alarm sounds.
Who needs this qualification?
All employees undertaking induction training, including those with no specific fire safety role.
Why is this training important?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) requires a ‘responsible person’(usually employer or business owner) to take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and ensure employees and visitors can escape safely if a fire occurs.
This must include suitable and sufficient instruction on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by employees to safeguard themselves and others on the premises.
